PHYSICAL EXAMINATIONS
Physical examinations involve examining the entire body, including examining genitalia, teeth and physical appearance. Physical examinations are required by Independent School Districts each year for those children enrolled in the districts, and often times for children involved in sports or Physical Education. Some private commercial insurances require yearly physical examinations. These exams help to prevent and or detect potential health problems.
EPSDT SCREENS
National Heritage Insurance Company Texas Health Steps (THSteps), formerly known as Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT) is a service that helps preserve the health of children by the prevention and/or early detection of potential health problems.
Medical Screenings include the following for each THSteps recipient and may vary depending on a child's age:

- Mental Health Assessment
- Sensory screening

IMMUNIZATIONS
All children must be immunized during medical checkups according to the Health and Human Services Commission routine immunization schedule. Children must be immunized at birth, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 12 months, 2 years, 4-6 years, 11-12 years and 14-18 years old. Keep up with your child's immunization schedule in order to have a health and happy child.
BEHAVIORAL PEDIATRICS
Some children may be identified early on with special health care needs. The physician will diagnose and evaluate your child in order to determine the appropriate treatment. If a behavioral problem is detected a referral to a specialist may be required in order to coordinate medical services.

HEALTH EDUCATION
Health Education involves informing the parent/guardian about injury prevention, how a child should behave, how to care for themselves or how a parent should care for a child and the proper nutrition of a child. We provide this information based on the child's age. Health Education ranges from birth to 12 months, 13 months to 5 years, and 6 years to 18 years.
